Who can use the Eclipse Smart Whitening System?
Eclipse Whitening produces dramatic whitening results for any patient who wants to whiten his or her teeth. The treatment is most effective on patients with extrinsic stains caused by food, drinks, or tobacco products.
What results should I expect?
Results will vary depending on teeth condition, but one should expect to see on average a 4-8 shade improvement after completing 3 to 6 sessions of 15 minutes each.
Can I expect tooth sensitivity?
No. Tooth sensitivity can occur from either high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide or dehydration from the gel or light. The Eclipse uses a mild 12% concentration, alongside a UV-free LED whitening system. A remineralizing gel is also included to strengthen the teeth enamel and to help provide faster and stronger results with the Eclipse whitening gel. If any sensitivity is experienced, although it is unusual, this could mean you have another dental concern. You should get in contact with your local dental professional to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy.
How long should I expect my whitening results to last?
This varies from person to person and on your diet and lifestyle, but the effects usually last for 6 months to a year. Periodic touch-up treatments are recommended for patients who consume coffee or other staining food and drinks frequently or who use tobacco products. Refills of the Eclipse whitening gel are readily available for purchase.
Will the Eclipse whiten my existing crowns or veneers?
Whitening treatments can only whiten natural teeth and cannot change the color of porcelain crowns, veneers, or composite fillings. Veneers, bondings, and dental implants will collect surface stains over time. The Eclipse will whiten these stains, but the whitening will not be as deep as with live, natural teeth. The whitening will not go past the initial color that was created for the material.
